The world’s favorite sport is finally catching up in the USA, and it’s the women’s teams that are making it happen. The National Women’s Soccer League season kicked off this week, and all signs are pointing up. March 16th saw the opening of CPKC Stadium, new home of the Kansas City Current, which becomes the first stadium in the world built expressly for professional women’s sports. Last season, the NWSL shattered attendance records with more than 1.4 million fans attending regular season games. This season marks the beginning of a new media deal that includes Friday night games on Amazon and weekend games on ESPN, ABC, and CBS.
