The devastation caused by Hurricane Helene has been shocking, and it can be hard not to feel hopeless when such disasters occur. At W2W, we are always heartened when we see ordinary people doing their part to help their communities– so here are a few inspiring stories about the people doing their best to aid in the recovery.
David Jones
One devoted dad went above and beyond despite the terrible conditions in South Carolina. When the roads from his home to Tennessee were impassable by car, David Jones refused to miss the opportunity to walk his daughter down the aisle. Instead of driving, he walked 12 hours and made it in time for the wedding.
Jessica Nash
One woman in Edgefield, SC had ordered hundreds of hamburger patties for a football game that could not take place because of the weather. She took the opportunity to feed her community at the Edgefield Pool Room. “People are helping people. It’s nice to have that community,” Nash told The AP.
Morgan Wallen
Country singer Morgan Wallen, a Tennessee native, has donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross in order to aid the relief efforts.
If any of our readers have been caught in the devastation of Helene, know that you are in our thoughts and we are wishing you well.
