Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey last week. It’s so important for us to understand how women are feeling about the presidential candidate, and we appreciate you sharing your voices.
When asked if there was a clear winner in the debate, 57.9% felt that Vice President Kamala Harris performed better than former President Donald Trump, who received 25.5% of your votes. 16.6% of respondents said that neither candidate did very well.
The debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump had no fact-checking, while the Trump/Harris debate featured frequent interjections by the moderators. Our survey results said that 51.7% of you felt the moderators should have pushed back harder against both candidates to make sure all the facts were represented. 35.2% said they were impressed by the moderators and felt they kept both candidates in check, and 13.1% said the moderators talked too much and should’ve allowed the candidates more freedom.
When it came to the issues addressed in the debate, 51.6% of those surveyed were satisfied with the topics presented. We invited you to write in about which topics you’d have liked to hear more about, and you delivered thoughtful, observant comments. A few results below:
"Lack of affordable housing for families, high interest rates”
"I wish they had pushed to have the candidates actually answer the question on the table.”
"Not enough on the economy, on education, on safety and rise in crime, on foreign affairs.”
All in all, the debate appears to have worked in Harris’s favor per our statistics. 48% of respondents said they came away with a better understanding of Harris’s policies, while 29.5% said they had a better understanding of Trump’s. 57% of you said you were more likely to vote for Harris, while 39.7% said they were more likely to vote for Trump.
Thank you again for your responses. As always, your participation helps us brief members of Congress.
