Conflict is to be expected in an election year, but 2024 seems especially nasty so far. President Biden is increasingly at odds with his own party. Former President Trump was shot in the ear at a rally. Across the board, we’re seeing political conversations dissolve into shouting. At W2W, we are still committed to our mission of bipartisanship and cooperation, but we acknowledge that it’s increasingly difficult when the two parties seem so at odds.
So we wanted to check in–how are you feeling about politics right now? What would make you feel more confident going forward? Please respond to our poll–as always, your responses will be used to brief members of Congress.
As county chair for Democrats, I am perplexed by the Project 2025 and individuals not realizing the differences in our country inclusively with the many areas covered from schools, to government, to military use, to empowering President beyond the realistic needs, and changes to the judicial system. I fear for the rights of women and individuals of color being minimized or absent just as it calls for detention center for all immigrants to be deported. It presents that radical religious rights will take priority to all others--religion limiting, sexual identification, racial factors, power reappointment in decision making, court system, and the unlimited power of the President without consequences in his retaliation and restricitions of people for their differences. The Republican Party no longer is the "Grand Old Party." It is retaliation of others and the benefits for few, among mostly wealthy individuals who do not care for Social Security, Medicare or MedaAid. It will cram their interpretation of the Bible on all that want to remain in the USA which will not be identifiable by most citizens, based on age, color, religion, gender, etc.
Everyone needs to vote and elect individuals who are not part of the MAGA/Project 2025; our country and your independence as equal parts of society is at the center of the elections.
I feel very happy. My life is good and comfortable in many ways. I have health issues but I don't let them consume me. I have good friends and my family is awesome. I am involved with society and work with many organizations. I feel full of life.
I am conflicted concerning that some members of the Democratic Congress and Senate are trying to get Biden to step down from beinging the Democratic canadate. I will be the first one to say that Bidens performance in the debate was terrible but the speech that Trump did at the Convention was even worse. I agree that we need to defeat Trump no matter what. The Heritage Foundation has slowly taken over the Republican party. It has happened while we were all looking somewhere else. The Christian movement has been buzy changing things and people who are wanting to run for public office feel that they have to go along to get along. And the Supreme Court is a whole different animal. I believe that we either need term limits or age limits. When our founders first created the supreme court people did not live very long. The thought that they would be on the bench for years and years would have been an idea that would be foreign to them. And the morals of the Judges is another problem. People are going to start thinking,"Why should we follow laws that they create when they do not represent the place that we the American people, are at." And president be damn even though the try to reasure the Senators that they would follow it when going through the questioning vaze of the nominating process. There just seems to be to much to look at causing some to just check out. I'm trying to hang on and paying attention where I can.
